The Chungbuk Free Economic Zone Authority (CBfez) announced recently that it has secured 5.3 billion KRW of government money which it would use for the construction of two roads giving access to the Osong Biopolis (or Osong Bio Valley 2). Planned to be completed during the second half of this year, the roads are expected to help reduce the cost of logistics and provide effective transportation means for the companies tenanted in the industrial park.

The construction project, which takes place in Osong-eup of Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju-si, will create two roads, one 1.79-kilometer-long four-lain road and the other 1.06-kilometer-long six-lane road, linking the Osong Biopolis with the National Highways 1 and 36 respectively.

The new money, together with 14.6 billion KRW of public funds already secured earlier this year, is expected to help the project completed as originally planned.

When completed in 2020, the two roads will play a crucial role in the development of the transportation network linking the cities of Cheonan and Sejong with the Osong Biopolis and the Gyeongbu (Seoul-Busan) Expressway, which will significantly improve access to the capital area as well as the local cities around the Osong Biopolis. The roads are also expected to contribute greatly to the vitality of local economy by helping reduce logistics costs and provide high-quality transportation services for the local residents.
