내용 - More than 1,000 visitors on weekends as “Goesan Space Special City: Star Explorers” continues to draw records -

The special experiential exhibition, “Goesan Space Special City: Star Explorers,” held at the Chungbuk Goesan Eco Museum, which opened on April 30, has received an enthusiastic response, attracting a total of 5,082 visitors during its first 15 days (as of May 14). In particular, during May, Korea’s Family Month, the exhibition drew approximately 1,000 visitors per weekend day, making it a popular destination for families.

A staff member who observed children's reactions at the exhibition said, “Children have shown tremendous enthusiasm for activities such as the ball pool experience, drawing with UV flashlights, and ‘Space Performance,’ an interactive art installation that responds to movement with sound and visuals.” The staff member added, “Although we are extremely busy managing the constant flow of visitors, it is rewarding to see so many children visiting a small museum in a rural area.”

The exhibition is also contributing to the revitalization of the local economy. Nearby businesses have seen an increase in family visitors and have expanded their offerings by preparing additional food and beverages that appeal to children, resulting in higher sales.

In addition, the Chungbuk Aquarium, located just one minute away by car, recorded 1,697 more visitors compared to the same period last year. The popularity of the Goesan Eco Museum’s special exhibition appears to be generating a positive synergy effect for nearby attractions.

To maintain this momentum, Chungcheongbuk-do is running a promotional event from April 30 to May 31. Visitors who tour both the Goesan Eco Museum and the Chungbuk Aquarium and upload photos on their personal social media accounts will be entered into a drawing to receive coffee vouchers. In addition, the Chungbuk Cultural Foundation will launch a separate event on May 22, offering Goesan Abeliophyllum-scented hand cream to the first 80 participants who upload photos verifying their visit to their personal social media accounts.

The province also plans to continue promotional activities through online channels, including well-known influencers, blog review groups, Chungcheongbuk-do social media supporters, and parenting communities, while encouraging active participation from daycare centers and kindergartens across the province to attract even more visitors.

Meanwhile, Chungcheongbuk-do, Goesan County, the Chungbuk Cultural Foundation, and Wondermedium Co., Ltd. are preparing measures to manage congestion resulting from the growing number of visitors. These include deploying additional weekend staff, operating a waiting-list registration system, and implementing CCTV-integrated monitoring. To improve visitor convenience, they are also installing vending machines and placing a Goesan-eup local restaurant guide map at the exhibition entrance.

Kim Jong-gi, Director General of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Chungcheongbuk-do, stated, “A small museum in Goesan has been transformed into a popular tourist attraction through a hands-on children's experiential exhibition that maximizes the use of existing facilities.” He added, “By linking the exhibition with the Chungbuk Aquarium, we have increased visitor numbers and extended their length of stay, making this an exemplary case of regional tourism revitalization. We will continue to develop tourism policies that help revitalize local communities.”
