On May 5, Governor Kim Young-hwan of Chungcheongbuk-do attended the celebration ceremony for Buddha’s Birthday (Buddhist Era 2569) at Beopjusa Temple in Boeun (led by Venerable Jeongdeok), where he prayed that Buddha’s compassion and wisdom would bring peace to the world. In his congratulatory remarks, Governor Kim said, “I sincerely celebrate the holding of the celebration ceremony for Buddha’s Birthday together with Chungcheongbuk-do’s 1.64 million residents.” He added, “I believe the way to connect Buddha’s teachings with the hardships we face is to view and pioneer the future through Buddha’s eyes. I hope today’s ceremony serves as an opportunity for Korea to prosper further and for Chungcheongbuk-do to advance.” After attending the ceremony at Beopjusa, Governor Kim visited Mayasa Temple (led by Venerable Hyeonjin) and Myeongjangsa Temple (led by Venerable Mundeok) in Cheongju, where he exchanged greetings with the chief monks and shared the meaning of the celebration with Buddhist followers, continuing his engagement with residents. |
