On the 7th, Chungcheongbuk-do Governor Kim Young-hwan visited ‘Comic World 321 Cheongju’, the first event held at Cheongju OSCO―the province’s first and the largest exhibition and convention center in the central region of South Korea.

Celebrating its 26th anniversary this year, Comic World is the nation’s largest comic event where various creators, including amateur comic artists, gather to showcase their works and interact with visitors. The event also provides the youth with a stage for their dreams.

Held for two days on the 7th and 8th, Comic World features various events such as exhibits of portfolio exchange among school comic clubs, an outstanding comic club contest, cosplay stage performances, and a stationery fair.

According to the organizers of Comic World 321 Cheongju, more than 7,000 participants and visitors entered the venue on the morning of the first day, creating a huge crowd. More than 15,000 visitors from across the country are expected by tomorrow, indicating a highly successful event.

In particular, Cheongju OSCO has already secured 81 events for the second half of the year, including exhibitions and conferences. Even before its official opening, its operation rate has exceeded 39%, and the economic ripple effect of its opening is estimated at KRW 80.4 billion per year.

Cheongju OSCO, the first exhibition and convention center in Chungbuk, was built with an investment of KRW 231.8 billion by Chungcheongbuk-do and the city of Cheongju. It has a total floor area of 39,725㎡ with one basement level and two above-ground floors in Mansu-ri, Osong-eup. It will undergo trial operations from this month until August before its official opening in September.

Governor Kim Young-hwan stated, “I hope Cheongju OSCO will become a global exhibition and convention center that people across the country want to visit, serving as the hub of the MICE industry in the central region.” He added, “It will become a landmark of Chungcheongbuk-do that connects our province’s culture and arts with new growth industries.
