Governor Kim declared, “On this 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, I will become an independence fighter who opens a new era for Chungbuk. We will break from inertia, move beyond the past through innovation, and complete Chungbuk as the heart of Korea through unity, not division.”

He added, “After liberation, our forebears defined the direction of the nation as one of liberal democracy and embraced a market economy. Korea’s development and Chungbuk’s rise as a hub for high-tech industries were possible thanks to their foresight and sound historical consciousness.”

He concluded, “Chungbuk will move forward unwaveringly, doing its utmost to innovate and take action in the spirit of independence fighters who risked their lives.” He added, “We will rename the central lawn at the provincial government office to Culture Square 815 to honor the noble spirit of the 80th anniversary of Liberation and transform it into a space for communication and harmony.”

Furthermore, the original historical musical “The Lost Land, the Reclaimed Nation―Hurrah for Korean Independence,” featuring Lee Byo-ri of the Phantom Singer-winning group, Forte di Quattro, as an independence fighter, deeply moved the audience deeply by musically portraying the oppression, sorrow, and eventual liberation experienced during Japanese colonial rule, reaffirming the significance of Liberation Day.

After the ceremony, the province hosted an opening event for Culture Square 815 at the central lawn of the provincial office, inviting around 20 members of the Liberation Association and veterans’ groups.
