On Saturday, the 6th, Chungcheongbuk-do announced that Governor Kim Young-hwan attended the 2025 Salvation Army Charity Kettle Launch Ceremony, hosted by the Salvation Army Chungbuk Provincial Headquarters (led by Provincial Director Kim Tae-yeol), where he rang the bell and donated to support neighbors in need.

The event, held at the plaza in front of the CGV cinema on Seongan-gil in Cheongju, featured a performance by the Salvation Army Brass Band, followed by the official bell-ringing ceremony. Over 100 participants, including Governor Kim, local government and institutional leaders, and volunteers, attended the event.

Under the theme “Light of Hope,” the 2025 Charity Kettle street fundraising campaign will continue through December 24 at locations across the province, including Yukgeori Market and Seongan-gil, following the launch event. The national fundraising period runs from December 1 through December 31.

Governor Kim stated, “The Salvation Army’s bell and red kettle are more than symbols of the year-end season—they represent a powerful movement of sharing love with our neighbors.” He added, “I encourage the warm participation of Chungbuk residents so the sound of hope can resonate throughout the province.”

The Salvation Army’s Charity Kettle street campaign is one of the most widely-recognized year-end donation efforts in Korea, having begun in Myeong-dong in 1928 and continuing its tradition of bell-ringing for 97 years.
