Up to KRW 150,000 in Support for Adopting Shelter Animals in Chungcheongbuk-do -
Chungcheongbuk-do will provide up to KRW 150,000 per animal to residents who adopt abandoned animals from animal shelters within the province, in order to promote a responsible pet culture and encourage early adoption of animals in shelters. Eligible applicants are those who adopt abandoned animals currently housed at animal protection centers within the province. Covered expenses include initial costs for essentials such as disease diagnosis, medical treatment, vaccination, spaying/neutering, microchip registration, pet insurance enrollment, and grooming. To receive this aid, prospective adopters must complete the adoption training course through the online education system (Animal Love Learning Center), adopt an animal from an animal protection center, obtain an adoption certificate, and complete animal registration. After preparing the required documents, applicants may submit their request for adoption support funds to a local animal protection center or the presiding city or provicial office. Required documents include: adoption certificate, adoption expense bills, copy of bankbook, medical expense receipts and insurance policy certificate, and certificate of completion of the adoption training course (for prospective adopters). Financial support will be provided for a total of 609 animals and may end early once the budget is exhausted. Yong Mi-sook, Director of the Agricultural Policy Bureau of Chungcheongbuk-do, stated, “We hope this support program will serve as an opportunity to spread a responsible pet adoption culture and establish grounds for more mature pet ownership.” She added, “We will continue to implement various policies to improve animal welfare and prevent animal abandonment.” |
