Governor Lee and Chairman Yun cheered for Team ROK athletes of Chungcheongbuk-do Province, shaking individual athletes’ hands, and delivering incentive allowances. They also listened to the trainers and athletes as they shared their experiences and aspirations for the games. The 32nd Tokyo Summer Olympics will be held for 17 days from July 23 to August 8 with 11,000 participants from 200 countries. Team ROK comprises 340 athletes and trainers. Among the athletes affiliated with Chungcheongbuk-do Province, the 31st Rio Olympics archery gold medalist Kim Wu-jin (Cheongju City Hall), future prospect of Korean women’s judo Han Mi-jin (Chungcheongbuk-do Provincial Office), and gymnast Shin Jae-hwan (Jecheon City Hall) are going for gold medals. Hong Seung-jin (Cheongju City Hall), an archery coach and representative of the team, said, “A mixed-gender event was newly added from this year’s Tokyo Olympics, so we may be able to have male and female triple gold medalists for the first time in Korean archery. I will work hard with the players with the goal of winning gold for all events. Players in other sports will also show their best as we represent our province and country.” Governor Lee said, “Don’t forget you are the stars of the exciting occasion, and take responsibility and pride as a proud member of the national team that represents Korea and Chungcheongbuk-do Province.
