According to the keynote “The current president in Cheong Wa Dae and the former presidents in Cheongnamdae,” Cheongnamdae expanded its operation beyond the former presidents and opened the National Memorial of Korean Provisional Government commemorating the eight administrative chiefs of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, which is the origin of the Republic of Korea.
Equipped with various infrastructures and know-how on opening presidential facilities, Cheongnamdae is diligently searching for ways to improve its operation through cooperation with Cheong Wa Dae.
First of all, it is planning to install a promotional booth for Cheongnamdae inside Cheong Wa Dae to exhibit various promotional materials and videos. In addition, it is planning to operate a souvenir shop by developing merchandise such as mini figurines of former Korean presidents, post cards, and decorative magnets.
Meanwhile, it is reviewing a history tour program with the presidents and administrative chiefs as theme as well as tourist products linked with Chungcheongbuk-do and Seoul such as stamp tour and admission discounts as part of the joint marketing between Cheongnamdae and Cheong Wa Dae.
“Cheongnamdae is the only place in South Korea where you can explore the achievements and life of former Korean presidents as well as administrative chiefs of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. We are going to strengthen its position as a president-themed tourist destination together with Cheong Wa Dae,” said Governor Lee Si-jong of Chungcheongbuk-do Province.
Meanwhile, Cheongnamdae has been visited by over 13 million tourists in the last 19 years since it first opened to the public in 2003. It has truly become a representative tourist attraction, having been selected as one of the Top 100 Tourist Destinations in South Korea by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism for four times.
Refusing to rest on its laurels, Cheongnamdae opened the National Memorial of Korean Provisional Government after launching various projects in relation to the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, creating statues of the eight administrative chiefs, and documenting their lives.
