|A New Vision of Chungcheongbuk-do's Provincial Administration: “Enlivened Chungbuk With Enthusiastic Residents”|
The Chungcheongbuk-do Gubernatorial Transition Committee decided on the new vision of Chungcheongbuk-do’s provincial administration following the 8th local elections as “Enlivened Chungbuk With Enthusiastic Residents.”
Chungcheongbuk-do is setting out to reach a population of 2 million residents, create 100,000 quality jobs, and raise its gross regional domestic product (GRDP) to KRW 100 trillion as a new and better province. In line with its new vision of an enlivened province with enthusiastic residents, Chungcheongbuk-do also outlined its policy direction, focusing on the arts and culture, reliable public services, and public health and safety.
In detail, the following are the five key points of the province’s policy direction: affluent economy, accessible culture, valuable environment, reliable welfare, and local life.
Affluent economy encompasses the construction of groundbreaking infrastructure for rapid economic growth by revitalizing the local economy, creating a quality job ecosystem, and arranging convergent growth engines as a global innovation mecca through the formulation of a Chungbuk startup fund of KRW 100 billion, establishment of the Chungbuk Job Foundation, and a timely construction of synchrotron radiation and state-of-the-art research infrastructure.
Accessible culture encompasses the province’s will to open an era of a tourism renaissance in Chungcheongbuk-do that attracts visitors by constructing Chungbuk Lake Park, raising environmental awareness through the cultural "10.10.10." campaign, and building an international-scale sports complex to develop a living environment where all residents can enjoy culture, leisure and sports.
Valuable environment encompasses a plan to differentiate Chungbuk from other regions by focusing on environment, safety and education by creating a customized education ecosystem for cultivating young talents through Osong Global Bio-Medical Town with KAIST as well as specialized science and international high schools for AI education while arranging a foundation for the development of Chungbuk and expanding its safety infrastructure.
Reliable welfare encompasses the realization of a preemptive welfare system that will improve the quality of life by minimizing the gap in medical services between rich and poor and down-to-earth policies, such as the introduction of a "treat-first, pay-later" system and providing KRW 10 million childbirth allowances.
Local life encompasses the goal of balanced development among urban and rural regions through the expansion of a metropolitan transportation network, expansion of support to agricultural convergence industries, and spread of public institutions to build a mega city in Chungcheongbuk-do.
Based on communication, public service, and creative imagination, the new provincial administration of Chungcheongbuk-do following the 8th local elections will focus all of its competence in managing the province to “enliven Chungbuk for 1.64 million enthusiastic residents.”
