- Sharing their objectives for provincial, city, and county administration and current projects after the 8th local elections, strengthening collaboration between province and cities
Following the 8th local elections, the representatives from Chungcheongbuk-do and its 11 cities and counties gathered together to opt for a win-win collaboration, aiming to accomplish the new vision of ‘Enlivened Chungbuk with Enthusiastic Residents.’ On Jul. 14, the province of Chungcheongbuk-do held its ‘First Conference Between the Mayors and County Governors’, in the small conference room of the provincial government building. The event was attended by Governor Kim Young-hwan and 11 mayors and county governors of the province. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, this was the first in-person meeting held since January 2020. At the event, the mayors and county governors made acquaintance, shared provincial, city and county administration objectives, and decided to strengthen their win-win collaboration, with regards to key issues of the province, cities and counties. In his greeting message, Governor Kim Young-hwan said, “I would like to congratulate each and every newly appointed mayor and county governor from the Jun. 1 local elections, from the hearts of the 1.64 million residents of our province. I will happily collaborate together, for our province, cities and counties to coexist in harmony.” In ‘The Provincial Administration of Chungcheongbuk-do's Objectives Following the 8th Local Elections’ report, Policy Planning Officer Hong Sun-deok presented a new vision of provincial administration: “Enlivened Chungbuk with Enthusiastic Residents”, along with five administrative policy directions: affluent economy, accessible culture, valuing the environment, reliable welfare, and a local area worth living in. The mayors and county governors requested active interest and cooperation from the province, cities and counties for key projects including the 2022 Cheongwon Life Festival, the 2022 Chungju Lake Festival, the Boeun Sokrisan Mythology Travel Festival, the 61st Chungbuk Residents Sports Competition, The 2022 Yeongdong Grape Festival, The declaration of ‘Imagination Avenue of Eumseong’, an urban brand of Eumseong, and the 16th Danyang Garlic Festival. Governor Kim Young-hwan said, “In order to revitalize Chungbuk's image and make it the center of Korea, our province and its 11 cities and counties must come together in heart and mind and closely work as one, to form a win-win partnerships.” He also added that, “recommendations and suggestions from our cities and counties will be earnestly reflected in the provincial administration, and I will continue to discuss the current issues with our cities and counties for all of us to become partners in the provincial administration of Chungcheongbuk-do.” |
