On Tue, Aug. 9, Chungcheongbuk-do held an appointment ceremony and the first plenary session of its Pledge Assessment Advisory Committee for its 36th locally elected governor at a small conference room in the provincial office.

Governor Young-hwan Kim presented letters of appointment to the 25 publicly recruited members of the Pledge Assessment Advisory Committee comprising provincial representatives, heads of local institutions and civil society organizations as well as relevant experts and held the committee's first plenary session.

At the first plenary session, members selected the committee chair, set up five sub-committees,* shared the goals of the 8th locally elected provincial office, reported the current status of the governor's pledges, and discussed plans about 100 key pledge agendas.
* Sub-committees: #1 (prosperous economy); #2 (enriched culture); #3 (environmental protection); #4 (welfare promotion); and #5 (local community development)

The members will serve for four years during the governor’s term, and the sub-committees plan to review action plans for each pledge in depth from August and conclude them by September.

The committee will evaluate the progress of the governor's pledges thoroughly and advise on improvements to keep the pledges.

Governor Kim called for active cooperation and participation from the committee members to further develop Chungcheongbuk-do by setting up detailed action plans with an aim of making an “enlivened Chungbuk with enthusiastic residents.”
