- CBFEZ Conducts an Intensive Inspection of Major Construction Sites and Managed Facilities to Welcome Spring Safely -
The Chungbuk Free Economic Zone (hereinafter CBFEZ) has been continuously conducting intensive safety inspections to prevent safety accidents caused by the thawing season and better manage the quality of buildings. Following the previous safety inspections of 18 sites, which included large construction sites, in February, CBFEZ is now conducting intensive inspections at five major sites* in the Free Economic Zone, including the K-Beauty Academy construction site and the Aeropolis District 2 construction site. * K-Beauty Academy, access road to the medical district, retaining walls in Aeropolis District 1, complex and wastewater treatment facilities in Aeropolis District 2 The focus of the inspections is on discovering and thoroughly addressing safety hazards in advance, such as cracks, collapses of soil retaining works, and slope collapses that can occur as the ground weakens in the thawing season. In particular, the inspections prioritizes thoroughly checking even small risk factors by ensuring the structural stability of construction sites and the quality of buildings. CBFEZ head Choi Bok-soo visited the sites himself to inspect the construction and discussed safety measures with the construction company and site personnel. Choi thoroughly checked the ground conditions at the sites and the buildings for cracks. He also requested that safety be prioritized with strict management and supervision. In addition, the company plans to quickly improve any issues that can be addressed immediately on site, and to ensure safety by preparing a systematic response plan in the event that repairs, reinforcement, or a thorough inspection are required. Through this, the company is focusing on preventing accidents during the thawing period by going beyond simple inspections and taking practical safety measures. CBFEZ head Choi Bok-soo said, “As the ground is likely to weaken during the thawing season, we are prioritizing safety by conducting thorough inspections.” He then emphasized, “We will continue to do our best to prevent safety accidents and improve the quality of buildings with continuous on-site management and pre-inspection.” Meanwhile, the Osong K-Beauty Academy, one of the sites to be inspected, is currently under construction on the Cheongju OSCO site. The academy is to become a core facility that will develop the K-beauty industry to a global level by utilizing Chungcheongbuk-do's world-class beauty and cosmetics industry infrastructure. It will also serve as a platform for professional training, experience, and business connections for beauty experts and companies in Korea as well as abroad. In addition, 19 lots in Aeropolis District 2, with a total of 239,456 square meters (about 72,000 pyeong), are currently on sale. Aeropolis District 2 is a strategic industrial complex located near Cheongju International Airport that attracts and fosters aviation maintenance parts industry and other equipment manufacturers.
