Cheongju Aeropolis District 1 is 66% sold out, and construction of a rotary wing maintenance complex has been kicked off
- Aiming for 100% sale by December 2022, when the complex is completed, and completion of sales ahead of time is expected - Cheongju Aeropolis District 1, designated as a free economic zone, is gaining popularity in its first-stage sale, serving as a momentum to establish itself as a base for the high-tech aviation maintenance industry centered on rotors (helicopters) (MRO). CBfez (Director General Jeon, Hyung-sik) announced that as a result of the sale of the industrial facility site in Cheongju Aeropolis District 1, which is being built in Ipdong-ri, Naesu-eup, Cheongwon-gu, Cheongju-si, it has sold two out of three lots, achieving a 66% sales rate. After the public announcement of the sale from April 30 to May 19, the review committee decided on the sale for two rotor craft maintenance companies that applied for tenancy after deliberating on their eligibility. The area sold this time is 58,515 m2 (34,124m2 and 24,391 m2 by lot), which is about 60% of the total area of 98,185m2, and the sale price is about KRW 17.6 billion (KRW 10.3 billion and KRW 73 billion by lot). Currently, 55% of Aeropolis District 1 has been built, and 39,670 m² of unsold land will be 100% sold in December 2022 by a public announcement of resale when the construction project is completed. Chungbuk-do originally planned to develop this site as an aircraft-oriented maintenance complex, but since Asiana Airlines notified its non-participation in the Cheongju Airport Aviation Maintenance Industry (MRO) in September 2019, the direction of development has changed to rotor craft maintenance. In October of the same year, CBfez took its first step in the project by signing an investment agreement worth KRW 200 billion with three specialized rotor craft maintenance companies, and signed sale contracts with two of them. CBfez has been carrying out various business promotions such as visiting companies and holding business briefing sessions to attract companies. As a result, a first-stage sale rate of 66% was achieved and 800 jobs have been created. CBfez plans to create District 1 as the center of domestic helicopter maintenance and establish it as an “Aircraft Maintenance Innovation-driven Growth Cluster” in connection with the currently ongoing Cheongju Aeropolis Districts 2 and 3. “With this sale, we have taken a successful first step in the creation of an aerospace maintenance industry cluster centered on rotary wing aircraft,” CBfez Director General Jeon, Hyung-sik said. “We will do our best to establish a base for the high-tech aviation industry in the central region as well as achieve a 100% pre-sale rate in Aeropolis Dictrict 1, 2, and 3 by conducting all-round promotions to attract companies.” |
